Skydive Airlie Beach: altitude, beach landings and booking rules

Skydive Australia's own Airlie page advertises tandem jumps up to 8,000ft and up to 15,000ft. The lower option lists roughly 10 to 20 seconds of freefall; the higher advertises up to 60 seconds. “Up to” matters: it is a ceiling in the product description, not a guarantee of an exact exit height or stopwatch reading. The GetYourGuide Skydive Australia listing we checked is the up-to-15,000ft product. Do not assume its checkout lets you select the 8,000ft version.

SKYONE's separate listing also describes a jump up to 15,000ft, up to 60 seconds in freefall and a further five to seven minutes beneath the parachute. Those are descriptions from the listing, not a promise of the conditions on your date. If longer freefall is the point, choose the higher-altitude product and verify the actual option at checkout. If you mainly want an aerial look without a jump, compare the scenic flights instead.

SKYONE's GetYourGuide product explicitly includes a beach landing, along with the transfer from a central Airlie meeting point to the take-off site and back. Skydive Australia's listing instead says it has multiple landing sites. Its own Airlie page explains that weather and wind determine the site: it aims for coastal landings when conditions allow, sometimes lands on the beach, and sometimes uses an inland area. Neither the flight over the islands nor the word “Airlie” in a title guarantees sand beneath your feet at the end.

If a beach landing is the main reason for booking, read the current inclusions and ask how an unsafe beach landing is handled. Avoid treating a photograph of a sandy landing as a contractual detail. Both products are tandem jumps with instruction and a briefing, but the transfer arrangements differ. Read the meeting point, pickup wording and return arrangements, particularly if you have another departure later that day.

Both checked GetYourGuide listings exclude under-16s and pregnant guests. Each requires a parent or guardian's consent for under-18s. The important difference is weight: SKYONE's listing excludes people above 115kg and says surcharges start above 95kg; Skydive Australia's listing excludes people above 110kg and states a surcharge above 94kg. Operator requirements may change, and these two thresholds should never be blended into one “Airlie Beach rule”. Check the specific product before payment, especially if you are near a threshold.

Tell the operator about relevant health or mobility concerns before booking. The Skydive Australia listing includes an explicit risk warning covering weather and health conditions. This page cannot assess an individual's fitness to jump; speak to a doctor if you have a condition or are unsure, and ask the operator what documentation it needs. Wear secure closed shoes and comfortable clothing as the SKYONE listing requests. Photos and video are extras on both listings, so check the selection rather than assuming a camera package is included.

Do not schedule a skydive in the small gap between a morning transfer and an afternoon boat check-in. SKYONE says the outing is generally around three to four hours but the shuttle has no guaranteed return time; weather and other delays are possible. Skydive Australia offers several daily departures, yet its landing area and operations still depend on conditions. Build a buffer around whichever operator you use. Put the jump earlier in a multi-day stay if moving it to another day matters to you.
