The short answer
- Infants can join the Cruise Whitsundays south-end beach cruise; ZigZag's beach-only ticket starts at three months. Compare the exact rules.
- Ocean Rafting generally accepts guests from six months, subject to conditions; Camira starts at four years. Choose the actual vessel.
- Introductory scuba at Hardy Reef begins at 12; the skydive listing begins at 16. Jet ski passengers and drivers have different minimums. Read activity rules.
- The scenic flight listing is silent on age, but its seller's terms apply a general six-month minimum. Confirm infant seating and aircraft rules directly. Questions to ask.
Published minimums: product by product
These are the published rules checked on 12 October 2026, not a promise that every departure will accept your child. A child fare is not the same thing as an activity minimum. The skipper, dive team or pilot may apply further suitability checks.
| Tour or activity | Published age or child rule | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Cruise Whitsundays south Whitehaven | Infants under four accepted free; tell operator when booking | South beach, no Hill Inlet; infant meals not included |
| ZigZag Super Flyer | Beach-only ticket from three months; snorkel participation from four years | Infants may join while parents take turns snorkelling |
| Ocean Rafting | Generally six months to 75 years; contact office about infants | Suitability depends on weather and individual circumstances |
| Camira sailing catamaran | Four years minimum | Long active day with tenders and lookout walk |
| Providence day sail | No firm number on listing; children accommodated in fine weather | Ask operator for your child's exact age |
| Hardy Reef pontoon | Cruise Whitsundays' infant policy applies; confirm this sailing | Discover Scuba extra starts at 12, with medical screening |
| SKYONE beach-landing tandem skydive | 16 minimum; guardian consent below 18 | A separate product from the scenic flight |
| Airlie guided jet ski t395050 | Passenger at least 8; driver at least 16 | Maximum two people per jet ski; all riders must be able to swim |
| Heart Reef fixed-wing scenic flight | Listing silent; seller Ocean Rafting's terms apply its general six months to 75 years rule to scenic flights | Passengers are weighed before boarding; ask about infant seating and restraints |

A baby or toddler on a boat: pick the ticket, not the headline
Cruise Whitsundays explicitly accepts infants on its morning or afternoon south-end Whitehaven cruise and lists up to two hours on the beach. It makes brief pickup stops at Daydream and Hamilton; some departures require a vessel change. Check the actual total day length from Port of Airlie. The south lookout is a different walk from Hill Inlet. Our Airlie Whitehaven comparison owns the itinerary choice.
Shorter beach stop on a large vessel
Start here for a family wanting a simpler beach visit, provided the ferry connections and beach transfer suit everyone. The listing excludes Hill Inlet.
South Whitehaven morning or afternoon cruise
Declare the infant, check the exact departure and any Hamilton vessel change.
See itinerary and dates on GetYourGuide (opens in a new tab)ZigZag's all-day beach ticket admits babies from three months. Its snorkel variant allows the infant aboard, but snorkelling children must be four or older and one parent stays with the infant while the other enters the water. The boat has a cabin and bathrooms, plus a water taxi between boat and beach. It stays at the southern end, not Hill Inlet.
Longer beach day from three months
Select the beach-only versus snorkel option deliberately; a family travelling together does not mean a baby is eligible to snorkel.
ZigZag Super Flyer Whitehaven day
Check the beach versus snorkel ticket and the infant arrangement.
See itinerary and dates on GetYourGuide (opens in a new tab)Ocean Rafting's own terms say generally six months upwards, but require contact for infants and allow its team to recommend a different trip or refuse travel if conditions make it unsuitable. Its fast inflatable includes Hill Inlet and snorkelling. Do not treat the lower age minimum as evidence it will be more comfortable for a toddler.
Fast-boat day from six months, conditionally
Choose only after the operator confirms the infant's suitability and the exact route.
Ocean Rafting Whitehaven and Hill Inlet
Speak to the operator about child age and forecast conditions.

Camira is a full-day sailing catamaran; its listing excludes children under four. It asks for moderate fitness and agility for tenders and walking, and says snorkellers need to swim adequately because no flotation devices are available for that activity. A pontoon visit is different: Cruise Whitsundays offers semi-submarine and underwater-observatory viewing without requiring a dive. Its Discover Scuba add-on has a 12-year minimum and requires a medical declaration ahead of time. See the beginner-diving guide for the medical decision.
Reef day without assuming a child will dive
The day ticket includes dry viewing at Hardy Reef's Heart Pontoon; scuba is an optional, separately screened activity. An outer-reef crossing makes it a long day.
Hardy Reef pontoon day
Confirm infant carriage and age for any booked dive add-on.
See itinerary and dates on GetYourGuide (opens in a new tab)The linked jet ski listing sets a minimum passenger age of 8 and a minimum driver age of 16, with no more than two people per jet ski. Everyone taking part must be able to swim. SKYONE's tandem jump requires 16 and guardian consent for under-18s. Jet ski variations and the skydive guide cover the rest of each experience.
Jet ski: check passenger and driver separately
A guided coastal ride near Airlie, not a trip to Whitehaven. Age and swimmer rules are product-specific.
Guided Airlie jet ski
Passengers from 8, drivers from 16; confirm swimming ability and the combined weight limit.

Can I take a newborn to Whitehaven?
Cruise Whitsundays accepts infants under four on its south-end cruise but does not state a minimum in months. ZigZag explicitly starts at three months, and Ocean Rafting generally at six months. Do not infer newborn eligibility across operators: tell the company the exact age and ask about its infant safety arrangements before booking.
Can a twelve-year-old do a first scuba dive?
Cruise Whitsundays states 12 as the minimum for its introductory dive, subject to a medical questionnaire and dive team approval. The pontoon ticket itself is not a dive booking. See what the pontoon day involves.
Do infants have to pay for a scenic flight?
The listing itself is silent, but its seller, Ocean Rafting, says its general terms (guests generally aged six months to 75 years) also apply to scenic flights, and that all passengers are weighed before boarding. Ask the flight operator about seating, restraint, age and weight declaration. Do not assume the boat company's free-infant rule transfers to aircraft.
Before you book: the family age-limit checklist
- Name the exact tour, ticket variant and child's age in months or years to the operator.
- Ask whether the rule applies to boarding, snorkelling, diving, driving or sitting as a passenger.
- Check child life jackets, safety briefing, toilets, shade, transfers and whether a parent must remain with a younger child.
- For the jet ski listing, check the passenger (8+) and driver (16+) minimums and the swimming requirement against each rider.
- Check weather, medical screening and cancellation terms before adding extras.
